Soundcraftsmen PCR 800
« on: 14 Aug 2010, 01:04 am »
Selling my vintage Soundcraftsmen PCR 800  I'm the original owner of this amp for the privious 25 years and is in good condition considering it's age,I even have the original owners manual.  It is rated at 205 WPC @ 8 ohms and if you are able to locate another one somwhere they can be bridged as monos for 400 wpc.  It is a mosfet based amplifier and a few years back  had one of the mosfets replaced.  I would characterize it's sound as warm and smooth and it really is a pretty good sounding amp.

My asking price is $150.00 OBO
Thanks for looking

I've still got one as well.  When my Moscode went down earlier this year, I dug the old Soundcraftsmen out of the closet and she filled in admirably. Good luck with your sale. At $150 it is a very good value.

I concur.  That's a great use for an old powerhouse.  When I had my old Thiel 7.2s, I dug out my Adcom 555 that was barely seeing use.  I ended up using the Adcom for a bit after that for the center channel in the secondary basement system and then since it has a shallow chassis I was able to fit it behind the center channel in the secondary bedroom system as the left and right channel in the bedroom to drive 4 ohms speakers.  At $150, it's hard to go wrong.

I bought one on ebay a few years ago and am currently using it in my secondary system. Its' power and neutrality has been impressive from day one.

And with an avatar like yours, I doubt anyone would dare disagree :green:  Although some might argue my picture is a little scarier :green:

Budget was around $200, but I picked up a used sub amp tonight for $100.

Your amp would be a great option for someone looking for a good stereo amp though!
