Bang & Olufsen announced both a linear-tracking and a radial tonearm turntable designed specially to match hi-fi systems of other brands. The Beogram TX2 turntable (£199 without cartridge) has a short linear-tracking (tangential) tonearm, a servo-driven turntable and a search function which operates either forwards or backwards. One-touch operation includes automatic record size and playing speed recognition. To make the unit of ‘universal’ application, it has standard phono-plug connectors and is sold without a cartridge.
