Had the pleasure yesterday of attending a meeting of the Los Angeles and Orange County Audio Society.

Strangely enough, I had never heard of this group and they are not familiar with AudioCircle.

It looked like there were around 30-40 attendees. (maybe more)

They hold a meeting each month except for Jan (because of CES) and seem like a rather nice group.

For anyone in SO CA it seems like a good group.  Their web address is:

http://www.laocaudiosociety.com

Also of interest is the "Free Concerts" section of their website.  A great resource for tuning your ear to what the "Absolute Sound" REALLY sounds like.

Additionally the meeting was held at Classic Records in Hollywood.

These fellows have an incredible selection of audiophile recordings, both CD, Vinyl, and DVDA.

They also create and dsitribute DAD's (true 24/96) and HDADs (24/192)

Look here for their "online" selection https://www.themusic.com/

I picked up their new "Alan Parsons Project" 24/192 remaster of I ROBOT for $20

Also met and talked a bit with Harry Pearson's "set up" man.  He was the fellow who, for years set up all of Harry's systems in the various listening rooms, for equipment evaluation.

In any event, for those (in or visiting Los Angeles) looking for great software at "somewhat reasonable prices" (lots of incredible vinyl some as low as $7.99), and those looking for "free" Live music schedules, take a peek. :o

This looks really neat!  Perhaps we can get a contingent of ac regulars to go there as a group?  John, do you feel the 20 bucks for joining is worth it? :)

the $20 is DEFINITELY worth it! i joined and as a result i have the opportunity to check out some fine new products!

i'm currently auditioning a 1M pair of Eichmann eXpress6 Interconnects, Eichmann, Eichmann eXpress AC power cable, and 2 boxes of 6 Toppers that Mark Hobson of Classic Records so graciously lent me to demo in my system.

go to www.eichmanncables.com for more info on these products

stay tuned as i'll be sharing my impressions of these products within the next few weeks...:)

I want to thank Mike of CryoTweaks for bringing the LA & OC Audio Society to my attention. I, then in turn, informed John and we decided to go down to check it out...

Totally worth getting involved w/ this...we had the opportunity to hear Kevin Halverson, president of Muse Audio, talk about hi-rez tech followed by a demo of the soon to be released Muse Model 11 universal player...Very cool stuff...We heard an a/b comparison between 24/192 vs. 24/96...I heard how AMAZING vinyl can really sound...and as I mentioned above, I now have the opportunity to audition the Eichmann products in my system...

Those Fullerton free concerts are just down the street from me!  I'll definitely check out the 3/7 date for Chopin/Schumann/Beethoven.

I also noticed the strong presence of Dr. Bruce Edgar and Cyrus Brenneman on the website.  For those interested in one of the finest horn systems in the world, Dr. Edgar is having his regular So. Cal Horn meeting on 2/28 Sat at 1 pm at his shop in Torrance.  I understand he will be comparing several SS amps on his Titan horns with the BIG horn subwoofer.  The Good doctor welcomes everyone, and it is definitely worth checking out if you want to hear the most musical, effortless bass anywhere...

Would that Dr. Edgar in the pictures be the Dr. Bruce Edgar?

the photo of Dr Edgar presenting the TiTans?

that's Bruce in the picture.  He really is one of the nicest people I've met in audio...that's keeping in mind that most people I've met have really been great!  He is a true gentlemen.
