just want to say thanks to tubesforever for a little guidance on building a piccolo as well as supplying some matched russian teflon caps for a very nice price.
the piccolo sounds nice, didn't affect the sound much, it adds a little detail and brought the highs out that i felt were a little recessed before. i'm thinking it's more the way the piccolo interacts with the grado than it is with the actual sound of the piccolo...i could be wrong though.
no hum at all. with the piccolo on lowest gain setting i can still use my gold1. the system as a whole is quieter with the piccolo in the line.
now i can actually use a low output grado cartridge i have sittin around, and i can play with LOMC cartridges now.
i think eventually i might build a cornetII to replace the bugle i have.
