No, it wasn't made by Canon or Nikon.  The digital camera was invented by Steve Sasson (Kodak engineer) in 1975. 
**The camera weighs about 8 ½ pounds and is approximately 8” wide, 6” deep and 9” high. It’s about the size
and weight of a toaster.
  And today we think the Canon 5D and Nikon D3 are too big and heavy to tote around!

Notice how small the K7 is in comparison...




The reason these Canikons look so filthy is because they are combat cameras used by the military.

In the new apple documentary "welcome to macintosh"  there is talk of using it in the late 70's.  I was thinking  digital...whaaa???? :o
