The Runaways

This movie is a fairly unflinching biopic about the all-girl band "The runaways"  that formed in the late 70's.  You may remember Joan Jett and Lita Ford from the band.  It's pretty gritty, a lot of drug abuse (a la doors) and other rock star stuff.  One scene with the record producer shows a late 70's stereo complete with bose 901's on a pedestal.

Yeah, those bose were rough!!!
So much for my awkward collision of concepts there...  :P
The movie was pretty drug trip drenched and nightmarish in terms of street teenagers thrown into the adult world of rock.  They were manufactured into a "jailbait"  band and the first tough-girl rockers.  There is a lot of depressing drug use, chain smoking and creepy exploitation that puts 16 year olds on the road, at the mercy of a freakish producer.
This movie was pretty arduous to watch, but it is enlightening.  It was produced by Joan Jett.  I am in no hurry to see it again...ever.
