How do the switched outlets work on AVA gear?
« on: 29 Jul 2010, 10:29 pm »
I have a Squeezebox power cord connected to my Insight DAC switched outlet, which is then connected to a Panamax power strip. My DAC is off, yet the SB is still on, which I find a bit confusing.

Note that when I plugged SB -> DAC -> Insight Preamp -> Wall outlet, the DAC and the SB only came on when I toggled on the Preamp. Are the rear outlets on the DAC always on and the Preamp not?

Any clarification would be appreciated.

The outlets on the DAC are not switched.  The pre-amp outlets are switched and fused.  They both use the same back label that covers the outlets.  Sorry for the confusion.

This is my oversight.  Sorry about that.

The next time I have the generic back panel labels run, I will specify two kinds of them, one for preamps that have switched back panel AC outlets, and another for DACs, which do not have switched outlets, unswitched only.
