NeeD YouR OpinioN

Hi everyone

I ordered some new treatments ( 2 diffusers and 2 Art absorbing panels)
to help treating my smallish living room which is also my listening room but due to some obstacles like irregular shape, doors and window...... I am not sure how to place these panels in the most effective matter?????

Besides new treatments, 2 bass traps and Skyline diffusers can be also used if needed.

Room is about 11f high with wood flooring, some cork tiles on the front wall as well as the entire back wall.
Any suggestions and ideas are welcome!!!!
Your help is needed and truly appreciated.

Please let me know if you need more info....

here is what the room looks like:

If the room set up must remain as is...
absorption left right frp.
absorption on the window to your left.
diffusion to your back.
you may want more absorption on the left and right walls as they get closer to the listening position.  Try standing a panel to your right to mimic the one on the window.
add all the bass traps you have.

I'd say art panels at the side wall reflection points.  Bass control in the front corners as you have them.

Diffusion can either be rear wall behind you or at ceiling reflection points.  As far back as you're sitting in the room, I personally would rather have thick absorption behind you on the rear wall.

OK ...... now a bit more specific Q.

The door (glass door - terrace) on the right side of the listening position and it is exactly at first reflection point. I don't see any other option then have those Art panels "free-standing". But I am a little curious if the glass door is going to be the factor as far as balance between the speakers is concern?

2. Diffusion on the ceiling right above my head is a bit of problem because of the  chandelier.
It might be visible on the floor plan.

3. 50" plasma between/behind speaker.
I can not cover it with blanket since it is build-in the temp. wall.

Not seeing how that door can be at a first reflection point.  It's basically directly to your side.

In any case, it's not the window that would be a problem as much as the non-symmetry of that side of the room in general.

Hi Bryan and thanks for your suggestions.
Here is what I am concern about:

MaxCast
thanks for your help.

Do you guys think that thick drapes could help with the window issue?
I can not have treatments covering my window ( correction - my wife's window  :duh: )

and................would diffusion be more efficient on the ceiling or the front or back wall.
I am afraid that absorption will not work on the wall behind listening position but diffusion in the form of bookcase and shelving can be implemented. Wall is covered with 1/4" natural/unfinished cork tiles......not sure of the effect it makes on the acoustics but it sure doesn't hurt - I hope

Thanks again

Did it on my iPhone ( remember??? I am still on vacation)

.......and that garden chair is long gone (did not have any recent pics - there might be some pics in my gallery tho ......from the RAVE about 2yo)

P.S
Unfortunately I am aware how important the acoustics are but I am dealt with a room that isn't easiest to work with and wife which isn't easily pleased..... so I have to work twice as HARD )

In the second photo- "front view"- looks like you've pulled your speakers more into the room and you're sitting on an occasional chair in front of your L shaped sofa.  That's all good.  How's that workin for ya?  Must be a panel available you can put in front of your glass door.

I think some clarification is in order.

The pictures are only to help you visualize the room.
They were taken during construction/remodeling process.
Most of the gear and speakers in that picture are gone.
Placing the speakers and listing sweat spot was easier back then due to Vandersteen's build in compensation EQ (Quatro model).
I am using Single Driver back loaded horns  most of the time.
And I hate EQ of any kind and would like to keep my setup as simple as possible.
During the remodeling process I have tried to figure out the best layout/placement for my gear/listening position/and speakers without turning out living room into sick, dedicated "sound lab".
Remember, ....... I am married and happy.

here is the link to my gallery ....... there are some pictures there right after (almost) renovation:

Gallery and some room pictures

Thanks all
