I can see that mentioning this stuff in the culinary circle is about as appropriate as Bose and Mp3's in the audio circles. :|

Bose and mp3s have their place too.

I would never say, "Forget all this other stuff, for audio nirvana all you need is Bose and some mp3s!"

However, they're both fine for background music or in the car, and that's what an awful lot of people want them for.

True... I just have to use a gauge (example/metaphor) for the tolerance of those that read this circle.  I know it's a massive inconvenience and horrible lot of effort not to read one specific thread that doesn't interest a person specifically; and an equal test of will not to complain about it... but I can't please everyone.  :|   And I sure don't want to traumatize anyone by providing posts on commoner or parochial fare.

For the record; I never said that we can only talk about fine dining... ever. All I said was that I think we can do better than OG vs. Denny's or what Subway we like. I think food should be about more than how much of it we get for our money too, but I guess everyone wants value for their dollar.

I held my tongue through the whole OG/Denny's thread, but when this one popped up, I wanted to make sure we weren't starting a trend here. If you don't like the way I faciltate this circle: write to John or better yet, take it over yourself. I was asked to help out here because I've spent the last 20 years working in kitchens, but I'm certainly not the last word in everything culinary around A/C.

This circle has had some great posts about local joints, bbqs, smokers, drying chilies, growing gardens, high-end food, knives etc. from a small group of people who seem to love food. Personally, I liked it that way.
