Hi - is there a way to make it so that only iTunes plays through USB? For example, if a web page has sound on it, or I look at a video on youtube, I want that to come through the internal speakers. I have "sound effects" coming through the internal speakers, but I'd like everything but iTunes to do so. Any ideas

I'm unaware of a way of doing so, that's why I don't surf while listening.

It's interesting that some applications let you select the output device and iTunes doesn't... Perhaps there's a plugin that does that for iTunes, but you can also use cog to select the output device for playback. http://cogx.org/

Well, in the end that's what I ended up doing (except the new ATV instead of AE).

This just seems like a major flaw in the whole iTunes/USB system

It is strange that most applications have this issue and honestly there little reason for it perhaps iTunes needs a "noob" switch.

You could also run Pure Music, which can override Audio Midi for iTunes.

Or Ayrewave (similar approach as Cog, but much more current and powerful). Nifty interface to iTunes.
