Balanced (XLR) "Y" Cable
« on: 23 Jul 2010, 03:01 am »
Hi

Having a pair of DMA 200's and only 1 balanced output ( the pre I'm using now has 2 RCA outputs ), is there a cable that will split the single output into 2...and....if possible, will this be harmful to my equipment or diminish the overall performance?

Any idea's ?

Thanks

Mike

Stores like the Guitar Center carry XLR splitters designed for microphone use. Some are very inexpensive so you could try them with little financial risk. They tend to be short, adapter cables that will require additional cables. I have also seen longer versions that would not require an extension for sale on eBay.

Good luck.

Sure Mike,

There are several solutions.

Different Cable-Brands offer Y Cables to split the signal.

The guitar Y cable will fitt but will probably not be the wanted quality partner.

Beware, just spliting up the siganal will be influencing things like impedance and other valuable matching.

Always a matter of,..... try, and listnen.

I have good experience with Harmonic Technology.

Happy listening,
