Great find Mark. Somebody might have themselves a great deal on one of these.

I wish eBay sellers, as a matter if habit, would just include a pic of the serial number...

But then again, they're not used to AVA Hifi service either!

For the record--I've bought used AVA gear, but never without Frank's blessing...

Hey, that's how I got my EXR5! One of the best deals I ever made.

Both of the amps shown above appear to be properly described.  I have no idea why the seller of the 260EX said "Dynaco" in the name.  The amp is all AVA and has nothing to do with any older Dynaco design at all.

Frank Van Alstine

"Dynaco" in the name broadens a search result.

That's one of the things that aggravates me about ebay.I'll be looking for something in particular and when you enter it in search 1000 items come up that have absolutely nothing to do with what you're looking for.Ebay actually recommends doing this.Oh well, that's my vent for the day!! :banghead:

So when it comes time to sell my AVA amp, I'll just stick "Krell" in there.

Perhaps you are unaware of the connection between AVA and Dynaco.  Or you're busting my balls.  Either way if you don't spend time searching for gear online you don't get it.  Ignorance is bliss.

There really isn't any direct connection between an OmegaStar 260EX and Dynaco.

By putting in Dynaco he's just wasting the time of people who are actually searching for Dynaco gear IMO.

I think he's actually spamming, which is against eBay rules (by listing more then one brand). He's using the AVA Dyna connection to increase his audience.

I kinda doubt the Krell audience would appreciate the AVA---you know, not big enough, heavy enough or expensive enough......

Cheers,

Mark

When I think of Frank, I think of Dynaco. Without Dynaco, I wouldn't have bought Frank's later equipment.

I bought a Dynaco 70/Pas 3, then I bought an AVA preamp/amp, then I bought a Super Pas3 kit, then I bought an AVA DAC, then I bought more Dynaco 70, then I bought the Ultravalve kit/70i kit to rebuild those Dynaco 70.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the ad, using the term spamming is just way too harsh on the guy.

Most articles that you read about Frank mentioned his Dynaco root.

I have posted a picture of the S/N in the ebay ad.  Mine is the first link quoted. Thanks

This 1987 Super Pas Two preamp looks pretty nice.  It appears the same as when I built it 23 years ago.

We have some much newer and better used equipment available now.  Some is posted on our web site, some more will be posted there next week.

Check it out at avahifi.com
