When I was eight years old, my Mom gave me my first radio. It was this off-white thing, about the size of a shoe box, with a big clear-plastic tuner dial with raised gold numbers for the station indicators. I remember it like I saw it today, but I have no idea whatever happened to it.

Anyway, back on Topic: The song radio stations were playing the hell out of back then was America's 'Horse With No Name'. I loved that song.

I have had a lot of systems since then. I'm not sure if I would have had any of them if I didn't like how cool that song sounded on that old white radio with the big ol' dial.  :thumb:

Great Topic. Thanks for the memories!

Have fun,
Jerry

Boy, I sure remember those old bubblegum songs from going to the roller rink when I was  in the 6th grade.

How about 'Sugar, Sugar' by the Archies?

Any you southern Cal boys remember Johnny Otis?

Absolutely! Pure rhythm and blues. His son Shuggie is still going strong.

Hey Chris, as always, nice posts.  Wolfman Jack before he got famous used to broadcast from Ciudad Acuna, MX on a powerful transmitter.  That's right across the river from Del Rio, TX.

Wrestling in jr high school and high school on the late 80s/early 90s, Lunatic Fringe by Red Raider was where it was at.

Every time I hear it, it takes me back to practice and matches.

Lunatic Fringe was the main song in the movie Vision Quest.

I was playing around on iTunes last night and found "Please Be With Me" by Cowboy.  Duane Allman plays what sounds like a dobro on this.  Beautiful!  Have not heard this since a friend turned me on to it back in college.

When you speak of bringing back memories when a song is played.
Freda Payne's 1971 "Band Of Gold." had a lot of airplay that summer
I was helping my dad where he worked at High Point N.J. A.T.&T.Facility.
We were installing an intercom system. I was just 16 years old. I go today
to visit my son today because it is his 25th birthday.
Have a great Sunday all.............Bill

I liked "Don't bring me down"  by ELO.  It had an energy and drive to it.
