Apart from the scene with Paris, all of the "dreams" didn't seem like dreams at all, except for occasional disturbances of the laws of physics.

I though that it was the architect's job to create the most believable surroundings based on the target and mission????
Target's self conscience and awareness of his/her state of mind is the most dangerous situation for extraction/inception.(pay attention to hands on training of the original architect, young apprentice)

If you remember the Matrix the illusion act was as good (flawed) as the mind of the creator. Any flaw could result in ....... exactly - downfall of the "system".

Saw it tonight in Imax (just opened 2 miles from my house....whoo hoo!).  I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, and didn't think it was that hard to follow, once the rules of dream levels were explained within the movie.  Very kewl ending too (called it 5 seconds before, and it still pissed me off but left me with a grin).

But holy sh$t were the previews so incredibly loud that if the movie were that level; we'd have walked out...$17/ticket or not.  The preview of Tron Legacy was sooo loud it clipped all the way through the last 30 seconds.

You gotta love the IMAX sound system,,, simply blows me away more than the size of the picture even. I even sit through the credits while everyone has already left just to listen to the closing tracks.  :green:

I gotta see (& hear) TRON.  8)

The Boston science museum Mugar is an OMNIMAX dome.  IMO, it totally blows away the flat IMAX screen.

I have plans to see it this weekend.

I can relate completely to the too loud of volume they use.  It is punishing and fatiguing.  It's bad enough we have to sit through 20~30 minutes of commercials to boot.  I started bringing ear plugs just like going to a rock concert and that sure helps.

That's what I though but I do understand that it might not be everybody's cup tea.

Shutter island was ok...not great.  I found it convoluted, but not really reaching an engrossing climax.  It was too all over the place for a real emotional investment...for me anyway.

FWIW I didn't make it to the end of Shutter Island.  I was not engaged in the least...

Okay, I just finished watching this movie and I think my expectations were too high as I left thinking it was just okay.  The soundtrack was very good, the special effects were good but I found myself at times thinking I just wanted it to end.  Based on the previous reviews I know I am in the minority.  My rating 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Same here, it's not a movie that made me want to say "Man, I HAVE to see that again!"  The sound effects would ripple my shorts or simply body punch me there in the imax theater.  But at the end of the day--it was like "the road" --a one-time movie for me, not an unforgettable event.
I kind of remember "brainwave"  back in the day (Natalie Wood's last pic)  and "dreamscape"  which for me, was more directly entertaining at the time. Inception was a little (ok a lot)  like the matrix, sans computers.

Saw it yesterday in Imax with my wife and the first thing she said was "Do you think the Imax made the show better than it would have been in a regular theater". I agree that the sound was decent but a little overbearing. Liked the premise and thought the acting was good but can''t help but think something could have been done to really put this movie over the top.
Had to also think of an old movie that really messed with my head- Gabriele's Ladder".

I think part of the issue with this movie for me was that what was "at stake" wasn't all that consequential; whether or not they were successful at their goal did not seem to be all that important....

There was a high stakes goal.  I know they just brushed by it and played a different angle much, much more.  But much of the movie took place in Leo's mind and dreams so the focus was rather singular.  As with the movie's plot, I think the movie itself can be thought through on 2 or 3 different levels.

My apologies satfrat. As always you are correct. I was assuming those talking about a movie would have seen it. Hope I didn't spoil anything for you.

I haven't seen that movie but I know that inception is what can happen if you don't use a condone.
