Predators

The formulaic storyline follows a ragtag group who parachutes out of nowhere on to a jungle planet where they are hunted by Predators.

The group consists of a mercenary, mexican drug gang enforcer, deathrow inmate, Yakusa enforcer, etc... you get the idea.
Imo, this is another film where they spent "maybe" three days on script writng/ character development and maybe a couple hundred $$$ on special effects...ultimately neither provide anything new or interesting to the series.

Nowhere near the originality or hillarious deadpan interchange between characters as in the orignial.  I'd wait til it comes to dvd and even then don't set your expectations too high.

Agreed, this movie would be an ok rental from a redbox.  Nothing spectacular about it.

Yeah, I saw this in theaters.... rental at best imo.

My favorites were the original Predator & Alien Vs. Predator (the first one)....Predator 2 was meh, I think there was one other that was terrible.

They could of done better on the new one, like add more interesting creatures on the planet for one....really only 2 other creatures on the planet????

I am the same way.  AVP wasn't bad...better than this.  P2 was hampered by the lousy acting a trite lines by Gary Busey.  There was no reason at all to shoehorn in "Lions and tigers and bears...oh my"  that was lame on an infinite scale.
I am awaiting the alien prequel  in the works.

I really liked the story line in AVP, with the Predators returning to a long abandoned fighting arena on Earth...but imo they didn't flesh it out enough before diving into the action.
Draw it out a little and build some tension!

I liked the claustrophobic setting, like a combination of Alien on the nostromo, and an arctic station in the thing.  I can't say that it ranks up there with alien/aliens but it's very underrated.

Nothing beats the original Alien!  That movie is a classic much like Blade Runner.  :thumb:

An axiom:
Alien was made with all analog effects... no computers. All of the effects and creatures hold up to this day.
Remarkable movie...I am waiting for the blu ray collection.  1&2 are classics. (same for Bladerunner- saw it in theaters...and still pissed because ET won best special effects over BR.  GRRR.... )

I also watched this movie today along with Inception. I really liked this movie all tho the ending really wasn't the greatest. I guess that's to be expected tho in a Predator movie.   The cast of characters was entertaining as was the special effects.

A solid 3 out of 5 summer movie for my tastes and was a pleasent relief after having to strain my brain with Inception which I saw 1st.  :thumb:

Saw the predators but cant say that it rocked my world.
Seemed like a bad attempt to build around the original story.
Extremely poor acting (almost laughable)
It was better then shopping with my wife tho......but not by much.

Hi,

I watched Predators last Saturday and I thought it was pretty fair.  The storyline is getting a little old but nonetheless it was enjoyable to watch.
