Yup, 1000 ohms or so is where I'd start with a 1.0mv moving coil. It may end up being 500 ohm or maybe 1.8K...but somewhere around there probably.
Final verdict is always the ears....but here is a calculator that tells you where it should be with electrical parameters only:
