Odyssey Stratos/Rogue Metis
« on: 9 Jul 2010, 01:10 am »
Please help! Just got my rebuilt Stratos++ this morning,my Rogue has hardly any gain thru the variable out-put where as my old Vincent SA-31 sounds great, altho not as defined.  Put the Metis to the wall plug without the Changlightspeed in the way and still not much, thats either the phono or cd... any IDEAS, I've waited 4mos for nothing!!

Are you using the balanced inputs or RCA's?   I've read reports of the balanced inputs wired not quite right...

RCAs, Kimber hero & 8tc for cable. Reason for the Metis is the phono stage.

I have a 20 amp dedicated line for just the amp&pre w/Porter Power Port. I've tried the pre thru a different 15 amp outlet no Chang in that mix...so why does the Vincent work with full gain in both and not the Metis?

Just looking at the specs real quick - the Metis has 1V rated output, the Vincent has 2V rated output.

Ok... I just finished working from the 20 amp service clear thru to the wall plug new Porter port and breaker. Also removed the cardis caps from the pre and put in my old anticable ICs. IT WORKED!!
Thanks for all the input!!!

It sounded like Bryan's point of a 1V ouput versus a 2V output would have been the difference.  The Cardas caps I believe are non-shorting, so are you saying that basically the Kimber Hero interconnects were somehow the problem?  Too much capacitance for the Metris?

I'd be interested to see if leaving the caps alone and just putting the Kimbers back in place had any impact.

You know I think that maybe I did too many things at once but I did put the Cardis caps on all but the  fixed outputs for the amp...maybe the Heros will work, don't know yet?
Thanks everyone!
