BEHOLD! The Encyclopedia Metallicus Vol I is ready!
« on: 19 Feb 2004, 01:54 am »
Sorry it took so long; this project really took on a life of its own.  I'd be embarrassed to admit just how much time & effort I've expended on this!   You guys can probably tell by my post count that I need to get a life, but you'd really think "loser" if you could watch me work on this thing!

Nathan M is getting "#001"; I'm getting a limited amount of 'em out in the mail tommorrow, with more to follow over the next few days.  Anyone who receives one will immediately see why it took so long- I lack Nathans skills at desktop publishing, so it takes me quite awhile to make them.

This is sorta first come first serve, so post here to call dibs and PM me for details.  I'm going to need a little $coin to cover materials and shipping- I'll provide details by PM.  I'm not going to make a profit, and anyone who doesn't like it can return it to me.

Thanks everybody!

You're on the list, buddy!  I still owe you from the Rollins deal, so no charge for shipping, etc.  You may have to PM me your addy, though- I cleaned out my PM box (it was getting full! )

BTW, if you get a minute, PM me the Rollins tracklist.

Okay, I've got four ready to go tomorrow; I've still got a few more of 'em made.  I'll check in periodically thru the night, and the next two or three could make it out with the first batch.

You'll see when you get yours!   I'm not a desktop publishing pro, so it takes awhile.  Plus, I completely redid the project 3 times til I was happy with it- there's still things I could've improved, but eventually you just have to call it finished.

I'm already planning the "Encyclopedia Metallicus, Vol II."

I think I missed a couple people who've had standing dibs for awhile!   Sorry to anyone I missed; I didn't anticipate needing so many right off, so I didn't make enough.  The next batch should get almost everyone else.  (I'm even sending one copy I didn't intend to use...).

Anyone who was in the second batch this time will get *preference* on Vol II- that is, anyone who still wants it after hearing the first!

I don't mind getting a "factory seconds" copy from you  , so feel free to send that one out here.

Or if you're already sending that one out to someone else, feel free to send mine after everyone else gets theirs. I'm in no hurry...

I'm not in a huge hurry either but am curious to hear your selections.  When I finish up a few more projects I am going to put a compilation together as well..probably not metal though.

The bummer is that I had a "factory seconds" on where the booklet got miscut, and I inadvertantly mailed it out!   Didn't notice til it went out, I'm afraid.  Worse yet I'm not sure who it went to.  I  have it narrowed down- I'll PM the likely recipients.  I'll mail out a replacement liner notes book to whoever got the "bad" one (it only has one page that isn't cut quite right- I replaced that page in the rest, missed one copy).

I'm gonna try to get another batch ready first part of next week.  The selections on the EM Vol 1 are a bit *unusual*; some are favorites of mine, some are kinda off the wall.  Lot's of clean cheesey metal fun, though! 8)

Hmm, dunno how I missed this thread.  Anyway, I just found the disc in my mailbox.  Excellent work on the inlay card Rob!  :thumb:  I am now high on the coating fumes wafting out of it though!  :bounce:  Heh!  Where are the illustrations from?

We're definitely in upscale 'tape trading' territory now!  No chintzy handwritten cassettes here! Ha!

Thanks much Rob!

You're friggin' joking!  You got it already? :o   Man, I mailed 'em Thursday afternoon!  Someone at the post office is really on the case.

I figured the illustrations were just the right type of cheese for the music!   I found 'em a few months ago at Art.com in the fantasy posters section- they looked cool so I saved them (not super hi rez, but cool).

Sorry bout the fumes- I used a print sealant on the inner cover so it wouldn't smudge when you read it.  I only allowed a day for it to air out; but at least it's not as bad as my basement!   I was getting a bit dizzy after coating a dozen of them!

The Lynch/Pilson one has an astonishing amount of clipping & compression- I just wanted to be sure to tell you that I didn't do it when I dubbed it.

Now to the important thing:  the music.  It's a bit poppier than your type of metal, I know.  Did any of it strike you as interesting?

Very professional looking package you sent out, Rob.
I have not had a chance to listen to it as of yet.  Family is still in the apartment 8)   I am a huge Queensryche fan, seen them twice as well.  The others will/should be new to me.
Thanks again!!!
