Lexicon 412 buzzing
« on: 6 Jul 2010, 10:53 pm »
This is an amp that I believe was made for Lexicon by Bryston.
I have an intermittent problem.  If left on long enough, the amp starts buzzing.  The buzzing is not heard through the speakers but in the amp itself.  You can hear it at the listening position and it is very distracting.  If I turn the amp off and latter turn it back on, sometimes the buzzing has stopped, but sometimes it is still there.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue?  Is it something that can be fixed?  Where would I send it for repair?  If the repair person gets the amp and turns it on, it may seem OK.  It could need to be on for a week or more before it starts buzzing.  I tried a local shop.  I think that they tightened the transformer connection to the chassis.  That helped some, but it hasn't entirely solved the problem.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice.  I bought the amp used on audiogon, but here is a local dealer that represents both Bryston and Lexicon.  I'll see what they suggest.

Hi Steve,

We will service it for you at Bryston but it has to go through lexicon.
