In a few weeks I'm getting my hands on a Logitech Transporter. I'm wondering if someone have tried connecting the Transporter directly into the Ref 9:s?

Today I'm using a Nuforce P8 as a pre but the whole concept with using as few components as possible appeals to me.

What do you recommend: Transporter  - Ref 9 V2 or Transporter - P8 - Ref 9 V2?

Hi Pewe,

I have Transporter connected to P9 to Ref9SE V3. Connection from Transporter to P9 is by RCA, from P9 to Ref9 is by XLR. Before I had P9, I had P8. I tried all possible connections. Best sound came from connecting Transporter directly to Ref9 by XLR, because XLR-outputs on the Transporter are just a little better than the RCA's. With P8, the difference was obvious, with P9 the difference is minimal, but still there. I did decide to go through P9 however, because I have more sources, including analog. I you only have digital sources, you might consider hooking them up digitally to the Transporter and using that as your input selector. Just make sure to keep volume down to avoid accidents for your speakers!

Thanks for your reply! As I suspected then, directly to the power amps are probably best but you loose some flexibility.

Is it necessary to do some modifications to the TP (jumpers?) when I choose the TP to amp connection regarding the volume?

No, that's not necessary as far as I can tell. The only mod I made was to exchange the fuse for an audio-grade one.

If you run Transporter to amp via rca, there are adjustable jumpers inside the TP for gain matching.

One follow up question: are there any problems with the Ref 9s when you shut of your computer and the Transporter goes down in standby? I'm thinking about loud noises, "thumping" sounds, etc.

And what happens if I switch on or off the Ref 9s and the Transporter is operating?
The reason I asked is because a friend of mine told me that even if the sound improves when you connect the Transporter directly to the Ref9s, it's simply not wort it because of the hassles when operating the system. :?
