Hi Jim;

The 3B SST2 has 40,000 uF of capacitance per channel, or a total of 80,000 per stereo amplifier

The 7B SST2 has 80,000 uF per module, and there are of course 2 modules per channel, for a total of 160,000 per channel, or 320,000 per stereo pair.  That's a lot.

Wow, that is alot, James.  When I was evaluating amps before buying my 7's I thought the total for the pair was 160K uF and that was a very good spec.  It's my understanding that this is one spec that relates more directly to amp performance than some others.  Isn't this indicative of an amps ability to recover quickly from peak power demands?  Since the 7B is very strong in this area perhaps a clarification of its importance would be in order.

Thank you sir,

Bill

James,

On the Bryston website, models 2B SST2 through 14B SST2 all list 30,000 MFD per channel (along with the correct power output wattage) in the Features sidebar.  The 28B SST2 lists neither wattage nor capacitance in the sidebar.

James,

now that you are working on a new website maybe you want to add a "sticky topic" about the use of what Torus matches what Bryston amp best (like you wanted to do it here at AC) ? :D

Can't wait to see the new website! I bet it will be great! :D

A little off topic but for the B100 SST integrated the website says 60,000+ micro farads and the manual (or brochure) says 80,000+....

Which is the correct figure? :scratch:
