For Sale, A really interesting pair of custom made loudspeakers. This is the "Ariel" design by Lynn Olson, made famous and considered a DIY classic design. Complicated transmission line, meticulous crossover work, properly chosen high-end drivers from Scan-Speak and Vifa, the works. A killer design at a very affordable price.
The speakers are DIY, built custom, and as such the cosmetics reflect it - do not expect factory quality. Oak veneer is nice, but the backs are not veneered (stained MDF). External crossover in unfinished mdf boxes are attached and removable from the rears of the speakers. There are some marks in the veneer on the bottom edges of the speakers, otherwise in good shape.
The port for the long transmission line exits at the bottom of the speakers, which have 4 spikes each for support and to allow the port to breathe.
The crossover parts alone cost $400 - air core inductors, quality resistors, solen capacitors, etc. The tweeters are the legendary Scan-Speak 9500. Silky smooth and tremendously detailed.
