BCD-1+BP 26+7B SST2+Thiel CS 3.7+Cardas Neutral Reference cablesMusic genre: symphony 30%, other classical: 30%, Jazz: 20%, New Age and some pop: 10%Any comment and advice is welcome! Thank you in advance!
Hi,I have a similar setup - any specific question?james
Do you think this is a good set up? How do you think it's performance on classical music, especially symphony? Thanks James.
Hi,The 3.7's are a very resolving speaker and because of their very wide an even polar response they can sound a little strident on some material. So speaker placement and music material is more critical with the Thiel's I find that many other speakers.james
ic. Can 7B SST2 drive 3.7 very well?
actuary616: I would have spent far less on cables.http://www.theaudiocritic.com/downloads/article_1.pdf
I think 3.7 is very sensitive to cables.
In Vegas where we do the audio shows each year the 3.7's are in a very large room and we typically use 28B's in that setup.
There is only one speaker cable that is quite different than the average zip cord:http://www.goertzaudio.com/contents/en-us/d16_MI_Speaker_Cables.htmland this due to its particular geometry and not some voodoo "cryogenically oriented monocrystals".Nap.
I don't want to burst your bubble, but after reading the web link, I can tell you their theory is nonsense with regard to audio.brucek
Then I would question the crossover design. Steve
Jim Thiel was one of the more particular and proficient speaker designers of recent past, and focused great energy and time on his cross-over designs. It would be sacrilegious to suggest a different cross over for any of his speakers!
I wholeheartedly agree with you! I was saying IF a speaker is "very sensitive" to which speaker cables are used, then perhaps look at the crossover.
