These came up as a Sweet Deal last week and I snagged a pair for $99. All of my listening to date has been .flac and .wav files off my work PC, through a Mister X XP headphone amp.
My 650's arrived Friday and I've put about 10 hours on them, so this should be considered a very preliminary review. They came in a retail package which included zippered clam-shell case with 2 cords, both 10' (3m), one coiled, the other straight. A 1/4" to 1/8" adapter is also included. The cans themselves are sturdy and well made, there's nothing flimsy about them. The color is a medium dark blue. When putting them on they are easy to adjust.
Initial impressions are good, the overall sound quality and especially the bass are noticeably better than my SR-60's. My Mister X amp has no trouble driving them, but the headphone port of the PC cannot. They do a good, but not great job of blocking external sounds. I have not noticed any ear fatigue, but see below.
The bad is that they are not very comfortable in comparison to the SR-60's. The 650's are much heavier and exert more pressure on the sides of my head. I wear eye glasses and they press on the bows, which becomes uncomfortable after an hour or two. I can and often do wear the SR-60s for 3-4 hours at work, I doubt I'll ever be able to do that with the 650's.
Overall, I like the 650's. The sound quality is a definite improvement and while they do become uncomfortable after an hour or 2, they are fine again after a short break. Because of the comfort issues, these will likely migrate to my home system. At home my listening session are typically 1-2 hours and I take my glasses off.
At the $299 list price I would not have been happy, but for $99 I feel I got a very good set of cans.
