Just a FYI, WE ARE READY TO ROLL but we are only starting with the standard QRD and making the Monster QRD as a custom item. We have a few production things we want to make sure of on the Monster QRD and the last thing I want is 100 orders staring at us. I believe I read somewhere that if your head is within 3 feet of your back wall, then you would not benefit from diffusers. Is this true or not?

Also, are these meant to be hung on a back wall or just stand on the floor?

How far away you need to sit to have effective diffusion is a function of what frequencies the diffuser is designed to accommodate.  This is due to the wavelengths of the frequencies in question.  Most common QRD's (7 root and approx 6" thickness) function best when about 6' or more away.  Thinner ones that are only say 1" or 2" deep, function in a much higher frequency band and can therefore be used closer - though at the limitation of not functioning below say 3kHz.

They can be used on a wall or on a stand.

Other locations where diffusion is used purely to scatter reflections and minimize slap echo like ceilings and on the rear half of a room behind the listener on the sides either down low or up high can be used at closer distances.

To add to Bryan's answer and to speak to your room, I would put one panel (monster or 244) right behind where you sit and have the diffusors on either side of the panel and or put them where Bryan spoke about. Needless to say I would recommend sending us a full layout of your room to give you the best solution. That is why we are paid the big bucks!!

I already use a pair of 244s behind my head. Were I to leave one behind me and flank it with a QRD on each side, that would help? Hmm ... Oh honey ...

Would this type of setup also benefit the rest of the room at all?

Suggest you list the dimensions of the new QRD Diffuser.

Also, I don't see any dimensions for the Table Trap or Elite Pillar Bass Trap.

The new QRD is more of an Elite product with the wood frame and choice of interior colors.  It's not hollow in the rear like the D1 is so no provisions to add filling or damping. The lower limit of the new QRD is approx the same as the D1 in terms of diffusion, though it will continue to scatter a little lower than the D1.  On the top end, the QRD will continue to scatter until approx 7.5 kHz whereas the D1 will diffuse up until approx 10 kHz.

The D1 is a variation on the standard QRD with the radii on some of the well faces.  The new one is a more standard implementation.

If you're speaking about putting it horizontally above the window in place of the more square one now, yes, that will be an excellent location.  Understand that this orientation will scatter sound vertically.
