What a wonderful gesture. You truely represent the kind of spirit and enthusiasm that this enthusiast is gladdened to see. Very refreshing.
My grandad and dad originally introduced me to jazz at a young age. I can remember listening to old slate 78's on home grown electronics and speakers years ago. Seems so much of the "real jazz" and big band from those long forgotten times are still the best.
But Bill Evans is one I did'nt hear back then. Once I did discover him I made a point to introduce my father to him. I can see him now...eyes closed, a faint smile on his face, head gently bobbing to the music. Obvously he approved. His (and one of mine) is the Bill Evans/Stan Getz album. Whenever I play any Bill Evans now, I think of him. He passed away recently and I know he'd love this album.
I've seen this album listed on several vinyl sites, but way to rich for my blood (wallet??) But, if I were lucky enough to win it, it'll be played in my dad's honor.
Thank you in advance for such a wonderful and thoughtful gesture.
