Guys movie night (Blackhawk Down?)
« on: 13 Jun 2010, 11:47 pm »
I am having the guys over for a movie night and was thinking about Blackhawk Down.
I have never seen the movie and was wondering if it has awesome bass content?

Of course i will be looking to rattle some sheetrock.  :eyebrows:

Any other bass favorites?

Thanks

Killer movie with a great soundtrack (including bass content).

Some other bass heavy favorites:

U-571
Master and Commander
Transformers
I Robot
Dark Knight
Iron Man

All my recommendations are on Blu-ray.

It is my ultimate BluRay audio remaster.  The soundtrack on DVD is NOTHING compared to what they did for the BlURay.  It's amazing!  :thumb:

Just to be clear, I was referencing Black Hawk Down, not the Transformer stuff.

I do like the recommendations as I occasionally do a dudes movie night as well.

Is there a forum or review site recommended that singles out these best of bluray superior transfers/remasters?

I wonder how Saving Private Ryan & Lord of the Rings compare.  I was just recently looking to revisit Alien and much to my suprise, it is still only on DVD.

Thx

"War of the Worlds" is my reference DVD when I want to stretch the legs on the woofers.
It's also the one I torture "noobies" to my man cave.  :icon_twisted:

More power to ya brother. Knock 'em dead.

Let us know what you decided and what they thought.

Terminator Salvation has a lot of bass. I like the new Hulk movie as well.

Cool. Just be sure to preset the volume levels on all the amps. Nothing worse than clacking of drivers hitting their backplate when they exceed their rated XMas.  Your guests tend to look at you funny when that happens.
Not that I've ever done that....

Lol............ Bob thanks for the tip, i have been a little concerned about that because another gent is suppose to grab the movie. I think i better make different plans as i like to preset stuff also. You never know if the center channel needs a little extra or subs as you mentioned. Thanks

:nono: Nope. Careful. Keep it within the 'borders' if you're putting a new disc in the player. Granted, you can test the limits with the other reference movies you got, then turn it down half a notch, but better safe than sorry. I suppose it also depends on how critical your buddies are. If they're noobs, then you'll knock their socks off anyway. If they one of us, they'll take points off for such rookie mistakes.  But since you bought the beer, they'll quickly forgive.

Bob thanks for the prod, i ended up with 8 guys plus myself. They loved it and the movie was definatly intense.

I was just a little disappointed, i am still not real used to my 15" soundsplinter in an enclosed cabinet (waf issue). It used to be mounted in a sonotube and tuned to 16hz of course it pressureized the whole room and made an indelible impression.

So it was a smashing success and they keep asking when is the next one.  :thumb:

Well if a guy like you ("us" or "we" nutjobs) is disappointed, then rest assured the general masses will be most impressed.  :eyebrows:

Good job Nick. Way to represent8)
