Wonderful Resource for Wood/Veneer Finishes

I am currently finishing up TRT speakers that I have made utilizing a kit from Rick over at Selah Audio.  I thought I would share with others what I think is a wonderful site that talks about all the different products and techniques available to DIY'ers.  Hope you enjoy it... :D

Gustavo, why do you think you have termites in new wooden furniture?   :(  Or do you have this furniture resting on wood floorboards which are termite infested?

Termites live in nests in the ground (often in the roots of certain tree species).  They cannot stand sunlight so they burrow through the ground and up into wood - whether this be live trees, dead tree stumps ... or wooden stumps which support the floors of houses.  In the latter case, they can then chew their way through any wood in the house ... sub-floor bearers, floor boards, wall studs or furniture on the floorboards.

I can't imagine any manufacturer of furniture would use wood which was actually termite infested - because such wood has no strength (it's full of tunnels).

Regards,

Andy
