Looking for some suggestions for SACD player in the $1000-$2000 range that I should be checking out.I realize I should audition equipment but here in the sticks,it's not feasible!!New or used is fine.My other equipment is Rogue Tempest II Magnum tubed integrated,Cary CDP-1 red book player andTyler Acoustics 7U speakers.I currently have an inexpensive(read cheap!!)Sony SACD changer and can get a sense of what SACD is all about so I'm ready to make the move to a good player.I will probably have to sell my Cary to fund this move so good redbook playback is a must also.
My short list is...
Arcam CD73
Esoteric SA-10
Sony XA9000ES  XA5400ES
Marantz SA11S2  SA15S1  SA15S2  SA8001  SA 8003
Anything else I should be looking at?
Thanks.

Oppo has what you are looking for. Very fine products.

Thanks Charlie,
I've been looking at the Oppo products for awhile now.I'm just leery of the video circuits(which I'll never use) somehow degrading the audio.I'm probably just over thinking this though!!

Oppo range is very praised for multi-channel music and video, the 83SE is just 899 dollars. I read on the web it is not this good for Stereo music.   http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-83SE/

Sony XA5400ES
Buy the above player and have a Vacuum State TFL Clock installed.  You will still be within your budget and the results (IMO) will be better than a stock player 2-3 times the cost.

Modwright modded Oppo BDP-83 or SE version.  To save a few $ do the standard rather than the SE (the mod obfuscates most of the advantages of the added $400 for the SE).  Killer sound for $1300+ (incl player, depending on modding 2 channel or full multichannel).

These:

They sound pretty much different than the average japanese CD player. I'd say for the good.

Thanks guys.I should have made it clear in my post that I'm looking for a stock player that will give me great sound. While I'm sure the modified units are great,I'm just not ready to go there at this time.I'm not interested in tubed models at this time either. Thanks again.

The Modwright is not a tube mod, but ok.  The NuForce BDP-SE NE of the Oppo is their version (i.e not a mod per se in that it has full Oppo warranty).  Prolly not gonna sound like the Modwright though (but less money too).  The best stock SACD player (new, less than $2K) is likely the Sony 5400ES.

I've heard nothing but good about the Sony 5400.

Are digital inputs a plus?  I've been drooling over Esoteric SA-50s which have 3 digital inputs, I think.  - while over your budget I've seen them for ~$3.3 K on Agon. If you break it up you get a great SACD player for under 2K and great DAC for under 1.5K - See, now you're under budget!!

(Yeah, my wife didn't buy that logic either)

If anyone is interested,I ended up buying a Marantz 8001.I put it in the system this evening. So far,so good.I'm enjoying it a lot better than the old SACD changer it replaced. Thanks to all that replied to my initial post.
