I bought two. You can add memory with micro SDHC cards.  I have listened to uncompressed FLAC files on this little puppy and it sounds GREAT. This MP3 player is small, is wearable with a clip and perfect for the gym, running, walking etc. Dimensions: 1.25"L x 2"W x .5".

Contains: 1 Sandisk 4GB Sansa Clip+ with MicroSD Slot  & FM Tuner.  MP3 player handles WMA, Audible, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC.  Just pick up some decent headphones and you are there.  Sounds MUCH better than my iPod.

Perhaps you have an older Ipod, but this shouldn't have better sound quality than any of the new versions.  With that said, I love my refurb Sansa Fuze from Woot...small, great battery, and expandable memory.

I have one of the original 2gb clips and it does play FLAC, so I can't see why the 8gb wouldn't.
