There is something to be said for having a decent video camera with you at all times - camcorders are better but with this kind of quality it's really nice. The weakness of the camera seems to be that you can't move it without getting severe issues in the picture, but for capturing good quality in short burst it is very nice. I qualify for the upgrade I think, and I will probably be getting the 4 in a month or two.

Use it as an itouch. There are instructions on the Apple site somewhere. I think you just need an active SIM card to switch which can be borrowed from your new iphone.
