where do you shop for music

Hey all,
I'm lookin to expand my music collection in all formats but I find little in the sacd format. BB.com is always Ok, amazon of course, for cool new stuff I've found insound.com. Where do you guys shop? What freaks me out about sacd is how much old stuff there is and not much else..journey, BOC, stones, floyd, alot of old jazz, You'd figure since it is a relatively new format the new producers of new bands would be onto it by now..or is this an audiophile driven market and this is what the audiophiles really want?

While I've never bought any music for myself, what I've bought for gifts has mostly come from here http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/

In the past, I have purchased CD's from www.amusicdirect.com.  They have a darn good SACD section.

If it exists on SACD or DVD-A, http://www.amusicdirect.com probably has it.  The prices are about average, but the selection is great & the service excellent, in my experience.

Another place I sometimes shop is http://www.elusivedisc.com - a little above your Best Buy pricing, but often they have some deals and sales, and again a very good selection.

I buy a lot of classical music at http://www.hbdirect.com - almost no SACD but a staggering amount of classical discs and fantastic pricing.  The stock the whole Naxos line and always run a deal where you buy X amount and they give you a freebie.

When you live where I do you get used to having to buy everything online.

Most new music's record labels are not really interested in delivering a quality product.  They're interested in generating cash.  Record labels are suffering at tight profit margins in the thosands of percentage points... where would the money come from?

Audiophiles have money and are the only ones who have the equipment to hear the difference between SACD and CD.  What benefit would teenagers buying Britney or college students buying local stuff receive by having SACD versions?  SACD is still new it's trying to find people to buy anything... right now classic rock is working.

When CD's first came out I bought Steve Miller, Led Zeppelin and U2.... and I was 19 and my hifi was a pair of AR110's, a cheap Sony CDP, and an Onkyo TX-800.  Go figure.

As to your real topic... Rob's pretty much answered the main question, so, I've run amuck here.  Bye! :)

I get most CD's from BMG music club.  Those I can't get in the club, I buy at Virgin or Best Buy.

I buy used vinyl from Root Cellar Records and Cheapo Records when I'm back in Minneapolis, MN.  I also purchase used vinyl at the Princeton Record Exchange in NJ.

In NYC, I buy new vinyl at the Virgin megastore and Rocks in Your Head.

For audiophile vinyl, I usually buy from Music Direct or Red Trumpet.
