Hi

 I have been looking at new amps lately to replace my Rotel 990 that is starting to come apart at the seams( rca's and output posts need to be replaced). I also find it a bit hard and crude in the upper mids and treble.
  I am driving a pair of GR research OB7's that are a relatively easy load at 8 ohms 91db.
  I looked on the Bryston site and we do not have a local dealer in Nova Scotia. I would just like to know the cost of this amp. I want something that is going to last and Bryston makes excellent products with the best warranty and Canadian as well. I need the SRP for new before I start looking at used gear as well

  By with tax do you mean GST? That is pretty steep. Prices have increased a lot in the last 10yrs. A friend of mine has a 4bst and it was 2800retail when he got it if memory serves. With no dealer I guess I would need to contact dealers at distance to purchase but with no chance to audition. Not a good situation for a long term purchase like this. We used to have a local dealer and I was surprised to find no dealer listed on the Bryston site. It is hard for HIFI retailers these days with most people wanting low to mid cost HT gear. The audiophile market is small and in cases like mine I am forced to go to internet based manufacturers that have 30day trial type deals in order to get an audition.

I think that some amplifiers have increased by approximately 10% (upgraded components) over the last two years.

For that you might as well go with the 4B, imo.
