I am on my way to Bangkok next week hoping to get the Se18. But I am concerned that there have not been any decent comments/reviews posted here or HD. (other than Mr Barnes' - 'absolutely fantastic' and lemongrass' 'magnificent'.)

This is after more than a year since the amp was launched. I am getting worried... but yet the specs look good

Also worrying is why the se18 has not been reviewed by audio mags/sites.

Can some kind souls (including Mr Barnes himself) give some brief take on SE18 hopefully in comparison from similar products as in:
- tonality
- highs/mids/lows characteristics
- responsiveness
- soundstage and imaging capabilities
- quality (any problems)
- sense of worth (worth US$795?)

This lack of comments could only mean two thing:
- customer were too sad/unhappy to voice an expensive decision went wrong
- not many people ha bought it
- too happy to write in (most people are keen to share good experiences on the contrary)

Comments/thoughts appreciated.

Not many direct-sale and internet types get reviewed professionally.  That's unfortunate but the way it goes.  It's probably due to the fact that those types of companies don't buy much advertising space in the magazines.

I was told they have sold appox 100 units of the Se18 so far. I dont expect the majority of owners to be part of this audiocircles community, but there should at least be a handful. Guys, if you are lurking, pls do your civic duty and let it out! both the good and the bad
