VOLKSCongrats on your New Purchase ! Robert
No trouble at all vegasdave.
Wow, that's impressive. A big speaker like that being driven with a 4B. I thought you would need at least a 14 or 7B with those. You saved big bucks on amps, that's for sure!
I have always been impressed with the power that the 4BSST2 puts out and did not feel i needed a more powerful amp with the bigger Kefs, but who knows maybe i will take a 4BSST2 on loan and "Bi-Amp" them and listen to the results hooked up to the 207/2's.
get a new 14b on loaner if you can. Make sure it has the new transformer in it..... and then be very afraid...
What would the 14B give him?
Enhanced hydro bill?Nap.
It has that new Torus transformer in it..... the 14B is actually a good deal in that sense. Unless you have heard the Torus its really not apparent, but the 4B out of the wall sounds compressed once you've heard itplugged it into the appropriately sized Torus. The 14B doesnt need the Torus for current recovery it sounds effortless as is, in the true meaning.
Which means that the 4B power supply isn't up to the task, so it needs external help, right?Nap.
Correct
Does this apply to the 7BSST2 also?
Well kinda but not really, its not the transformer's fault that the wall power sucks. If you read about the Torus transformers they are not easily implemented and probably costly. Its just a way better transformer in the Torus. There is nothing wrong with that transformer but its at the mercy of your AC supply.
That's even worse, as you'll need 2 Toruses to fix them, one for each monoblock.Nap.
