Any recent experience with McAlister Audio
« on: 16 May 2010, 10:45 am »
I  bought one of his PP amps 3-4 years ago and there were a number of build-related problems.  Once these were fixed, the amp -- a custom PP-triode -- really sounds lovely and it is main PP amp to go with my Audio Note SET at the moment.

The question is: are these build issues (I was not alone), "a thing of the past"?

Has anyone had any recent experience with any of his equipment in the last year?

We partnered with McAllister Audio at the 2009 RMAF. We had no issues with his monoblocks and one of the other rooms running a McAllister stereo amp had no issues and sounded great as well.

I know that Peter has changed manufacturers for his chassis and I know he will go out of his way to make something right. I was quite impressed and I'm looking forward to getting a set of his OTL's in house. We are going to partner with him again this year when we debut the Purity preamp at RMAF 2010. Last year we didn't make the decision about using Peters amps, we just one of several participants in the room. This year it's our room and we want Peter back.

Thanks Joe,

I have a smaller version of the PP-150 with different power tubes.  It was a custom job.
