Trouble with Squeezebox Duet (Bolder Digital mod)
«

Hello,
I have been using Boulder modded Duet for the past few months with co-axial out into my PS Audio perfectwave DAC. All of a sudden the Duet quit playing music. I mean the remote shows the song being played, the light on the Duet is white, the input on the DAC is set to coaxial, but no music comes out. I have restored the factory settings on both the remote and receiver several times, double checked the connection of the co-axial cable, but no luck. The only change that has happened in my set-up is I have changed my preamp. I can play CDs, music from other inputs on the DAC (USB) fine without any problems. I am on the latest squeezebox server software (7.50?).
Please give me some ideas!
Thanks for your time.

If you run Windows, and you let the program update itself or you update it sometimes that messes up the SB connection. It might be that, it has happened to me before, everything lit up fine but nothing, no sound. I have since stopped letting windows do auto updates and haven't had a problem....I'm assuming you run Windows. If you use something else someone here can help probably.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. My Squeezebox Server is on Mac.
Thanks Eclein.

I'd try deleting squeezebox software and reinstalling it. Last year I had a goofy problem with my SB3(With Bolder mods)and that was the only way I could get it back up and running

did you call logitech tech support? I've found them to be very helpful. I'm also a Mac user and have had similar problems before , tech support got me running again. btw, no need to mention the mods, it is irrelevant.
good luck,

Now that I think about it...I had a similiar problem and it was related to updating to 7.5. My music is stored on a Readynas duo...and there is a hocus pocus you must do when updating squeezecenter. If you are using a nas device that could be your problem as well. Either way you might make a post on their forum...worked for me.

My brother had an issue with his stock Duet earlier this year. It was with a PC. He upgraded the s/w on the PC, and the same issues were happening.
Many calls later from Logitech support, clearing his cache actually solved it.
Worth a shot.

I've had Squeeze products for several years, and, with all due respect to the concept and the performance (when they were working), these kinds of problems are the reason why I have never been able to recommend them to friends.
I still have a SB2, but sold a SB3 that had had a hardware problem that caused it to simply stop working at all, and then sold the Duet because it was simply maddening, and could not be relied upon even from listening session to listening session.

I appreciate that the issues that arise can be highly frustrating, but the overall experience I have had (getting on 4-5 years now) has been highly satisfying.
I will admit that I ended up buying a used small form factor Dell, and run my Bolder SB3 wired, so there are absolutely no hiccups now.

I have several SB-s, both 2's and 3's and run them all wireless with no problems and have been doing so for several years. There are some incompatibilities but normally, they are more related to your wireless network adapter rather than the SB's themselves. I run Linksys and have had excellent luck.

Try excluding file extensions MYD and MYI in your virus prtection software. This cleared up a raft of issues I was having with 7.5.0 software.

I love my squeeze boxes, but their software is buggy. For instance, I play random albums at work. When Squeeze Center/Server/whatever it's called now randomly selects an album I don't like, if I hit "fast forward" too many times too quickly, the program basically resets and jumps into the album I'm trying to fast forward over instead of going to the next album.

Can you get any music from the analog outputs on the Duet? Could be a problem with the Coax connector.

I am pretty sure with the Bolder digital mod the analog outs are gone.
I agree with whoever said must problems stem from network issues not Duet issues.
I struggled with set up and again when I upgraded to 7.5...even though very frustrating...I would not trade my duet or transporter for going back to cd's.

Thank you all for your helpful tips!
Ah finally.. after many days of silence...my duet is playing again! I reinstalled the squeezebox server on my mac, it didn't help. I reset receiver and remote several times, didn't help. I unplugged the receiver and let it sit for a day and reconnected.. bingo! In an instant I've forgotten the trouble it caused me:)
