Jahahaha I just picked it up. I'll spare you from repeating what the manual says - it is available from Bryston web site anyway.
First the mandatory show off photo (including a Listening Recommendation hidden under the remote):

Now some serious (or not) first impressions:
1. Bryston wrapped it in miles of bubblewrap. Took me the best part of the day to unwrap it.

2. It does what the manual says it should do.
3. The emitting IR LED is very powerful. It works even by reflections in the room, no need to point it directly at the IR receiver. So if like me you have your gear placed on a lateral wall with IR receiver axis at 90 degrees, it will still work, and from a great distance too.
4. It comes with the motion sensor disabled (obviously for transportation reasons, so the batteries don't go flat after it lights up thousands of time during transport). So you'll have to enable it in order to have all the fun.
5. It is universal. In the sense that you can also use it as a door stop, paper weight, self defense weapon or whatever purpose for which you would need a brick of metal.

6. I like it. I hope it will work with the BDP-1 too.
Nap.
