I'm looking for a calibration disc for my rca 36" tv.. it is not hdtv and I don't have a home theater... all I care about is optimizing the picture quality of my tv... should i get the avia guide to home theater or the digital video essentials disc? the avia came out in 1999 so it is somewhat old whereas the dve is brand new.. also, there seems to be different versions of the dve.. do i want the ntsc version? thanks in advance.

Both Avia & DVE would work more than adequately for your use. I think the Avia disc is more expensive than the DVE disc. But I bought the Avia disc so long ago I don't recall exactly what it cost.

I never cared for the Avia disc, but I was already used to Video Essentials. I haven't put DVE in the player yet, so I don't know if it's any different useage wise than Video Essentials is.

And yeah, if you went with DVE, you'd want the NTSC version.
