tube tester - can they test all (or most) tubes?

How about some less popular tubes like 6C33C? Would most tube testers be able to test them as long as there are tube sockets that fit?

I have a Sencore TC-162 and I can't test the 6C33.  Even if you have a socket that the tube fits you would still need to know the parameters.  My understanding is there was never a non-Soviet equivalent of that tube so no tester manufacturer I know of incorporated it into their tester.  But basically, all of the testers can test the tubes available at time of manufacture.  I.E. a tester from 1950 can't test (or at least won't list parameters for) a 6DJ8 b/c it hadn't been developed/invented yet.  Any tester from late 60's or 70's should be able to test all of the common audio tubes (with the possible exceptions of the ancients: 45, 300B, and the like).
Best of luck!

Well, I just build a Transcendent T16 tube amp with 6S19P tubes. My Emission tube tester had no setting for this tube but after 'playing around' and finding a fitting socket and different settings I was able to find a setting to test these tubes. May not be 'scientifically correct' but it worked to make sure all tubes were fine. Found one dead one and 2 lower performing tubes this way.

Some testers, like the B&K 707 (there's one for sale now on Audiogon - I have no relation to the seller) have a set of sockets that are "generic" and can be set up to test tubes that fit into one of these sockets but is not part of the standard set that are prewired in the upper sockets. I'm not sure if the 6C33C will mate with one of these generic sockets, but if you have a desire for a B&K it may be worth asking the seller.

I just looked in the tube charts for my B&K 707 and the 6C33 isn't listed.  It isn't listed in the charts for the 650 or 747 either.  I think that if you could find the setup values for the tube that it could be tested in the 707 and 747 most likely.  Maybe even the 650 also.
