Karma isn't with me
« on: 1 May 2010, 03:42 pm »
Or I'm not with Karma.  Or at Karma.   I got up at 4:45 this morning to make an early flight to AKF.  First there was an hour delay because the flight crew didn't have enough ground time.  Then the captain announced that there was a problem with his windshied de-icer.  After spending 2 hours on the plane, it was cancellation city.  The next flight to Detroit was full, and that was that.  Back home to cancel reservations.  I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing the SS10's and Jeff's Rogers clone, but that's what happens when you fly (or don't fly) Delta.  It's the worst.

That stinks Dennis.  Beyond listening to equipment, I think you are one of the rock stars the folks here wanted to meet.

At least you weren't stuck at a connection.

Do you have a nice late spring weekend to enjoy in D.C. (before the heat and humidity set in)?

Hmmm. I thought airlines would get you onto another airline to make it to your destination?

Wow, that's horrible, Dennis.  At least you weren't losing fluids at both ends non-stop for 22 hours starting at 3:00 a.m. on Thursday.  I am still recovering from the worst food poisoning I've ever had (my entire family and I, in fact).

Whoa.  I'll take the cancelled flight.  I've had serousfood poisoning (everytime I cook), and I know what that's like.  So you never made it to the wedding?

Sorry to hear that your flight was canceled Dennis -that stinks. At least you weren't stuck in the airport for days like the people who had their flights canceled due to the volcano!

Nuance, hope you and your family are over the food poisoning - that's a horrible experience. Do you know what you ate that caused it?

Actually, this weekend our heat and humidity started to set in.  The A/C is on in the house and I can see the beginnings of haze in the atmosphere.

Sorry to hear of the flight issues, Dennis - not fun.  Fortunately, the new law just went into effect this week where you're limited to 3 hours on the tarmac - max, before fines kick in.  I believe the fines are $27K, per passenger.

Dennis, I understand.  When I flew up to see the SS10's at Jim's, I flew Delta.  That was a joke.  Lucky I got to Michigan almost on time.  That was all I was really worried about.   It took two days of flying to get back home to Houston though! LOL

Bummer Dennis, at least they didn't hold you hostage too long. You should have just jumped in the Bimmer and flown under the radar.

Hope you and the family are feeling much better Brandon.  :o

The bachelor party was this weekend; wedding is next weekend.  I made it out for the bachelor party dinner, but I had to eat light, and at one of the best steak houses around no less.  It's been a pretty lousy weekend for me...

We all got together with my folks over at their place Thursday night, and my dad cooked up hamburgers on the grill.  Sure enough, they were dreadfully sick too, so Friday was a very bad day for all of us.  After narrowing down some things it had to have been the burgers, of which my youngest daughter was the only one not to eat any (and she wasn't sick).  Today is the first day I can sit upright for more than 20 minutes.  I am scared to eat burgers now...  Fortunately we've all recovered as of today, albeit some lingering wooziness.  Thanks for the wishes of recovery, all.

Dennis, I bet AKFest wasn't the same without you.  :(
