Will the Bryston BCD-1 sound good with non-Bryston gears? Anyone specifically compared between the BCD-1 and a Krell KPS-30i? Which has a more open, transparent and live sound?

Hi Ryder,
I have no experience with Krell gear, but a comparisson was made in Stereophile review of Bryston BCD-1.

Thanks for the link Daniel. Looks like the reviewer compared the Krell KPS-28c, a higher model than the one I have to the BCD-1 and preferred the latter.

When i was on the hunt for a cdp,I auditioned 3 players.
The first one was a ARC-ReF-3,Arcam(forget the #)and the BCD-1.
The ARC I had desired for over a year and as my dealer had all three,I decided to audition them all.
For me,I kept going back to the BCD-1,that's not right,a 2000 cdp to a 8000,price is definately not
what makes it.To my ears,it was the BCD-1 as she polished the music mirror more for MY EARS.
So I have the BCD-1 and totally satisfied.Do I have second thoughts about the ARC,NO,and I saved
a mess of money,so I upgraded my 7s to the 28s : .

I have listened to Bryston and Krell Amplifers-CDP`s and Preamps(I own the Krell K.I.D I Pod Dock -which is made in the USA).........Bryston and Krell to me  sound alike in many ways.Both are transparent sounding,solid build quality and a rich history-background in the Audio world,but the Bryston is much more better priced overall and made in Canada........Krell just lost its founder Dan D'Agostino in some kind of court battle and now Krell is building its  S-300i integrated amplifier 100% in China......i wonder what else they make from now on will be Made in China? ...Anyone remember what happened to Carver when Bob Carver got voted out of his own company?The same thing that may be happening to Krell ........is this a sign of things to come for Krell? ....who knows? ,but i dont like where its going so far for Krell
