So I bought one of these from Oade Bros, they are only about 1/2 hour away from me.  The unit sounds nice and very convenient for HT use, but I have one gripe and I was wondering if anyone esle here has one of these and can tell me if it is just me.  I can hear a constant, independent of volume, low level hiss coming from the speakers when nothing is playing, or from the center and rear speakers when playing something in 2 channel mode.  A couple of feet away and it is not very audible, but distracting when you walk by the rear speakers and hear this noise.  I got one unit and it had a different problem, so exchanged it and realized that both units had this "hiss".  I have looked through the settings and found nothing that would realte to this.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Uh oh Tate.  Search around, the HT receivers, especially the STR-DA3000ES seems to be notorious for this hiss issue.  I believe I have read about it in the 2000 as well, though not as pronounced.  It is indeed troubling to hear of this in the 500ES, I had high hopes for this unit.  I worry about the S-Master Pro technology now, though it is likely something else in the implementation?  Maybe next generation will iron it out?

Ask Oade about the 3000 problems, and what is up with that.  Maybe there will be a fix for this issue, I certainly hope so.

I noticed this a couple of times from my center channel when playing 2 channel audio on my '700.

It went away with a power cycle.
Oade said to keep an eye on the problem and to let them know if it persisted.  Excellent service from them.

Hopefully it won't come back.....sounds like a Sony QA problem.
