Is there a CHEAP aftermarket linear power supply for the SB Touch yet?

I saw a large upgrade a stock ($20) Parts Express power supply with my Squeezebox Duet and I'm wondering if there is a similar, dirt cheap power supply available that is suitable for the Touch.  FWIW I will be using it as a transport to an Eastern Electric Sabre32 DAC and I'm not particularly handy with solder gun.

If you don't plan on using an external bus-powerd USB hard drive, then any power supply suitable for the SB2 and SB3 will work.  Same voltage, same connector.

Thanks for the info.  I probably won't use a usb hard drive so I should be OK with a SB3 power supply.

I guess I still have the same question.  I've done some searching and I see there was an Ioemega zip drive power supply people used but I can't seem to find it, also I see on Bolder Cable's web page a $10 power supply, but it looks like it needs modification to work with the SB.

Is there anything dirt cheap and plug and play?  The Touch is neat but I'm not sure its digital out with stock psu is as good as my duet w/ parts express psu.  At least the net sound isn't as engaging...

Gopher,

I'll let you know as I just ordered the Touch. I'm sure Wayne has a power supply to elevate the listening experience.

I'm hoping it beats my Macbook Pro, just the convenience of playing all my Flac files will be significant.

While a linear will usually give a cleaner sound than most switchers, not all linear PS are created equal. The PE supply is better than the stock supply for the DUET, but there are better supplies available. The DUET also draws very little current so the inexpensive supply is not stressed.

The Parts Express PS can be used for the Touch with internal modifications, but it will be running hard and on the hot side.

The Hosfelt PS can also be used if the connector is changed, but it is on the low end of the amount of current required to run the Touch and a USB drive.

You might be able to find a used version of the power supplies I make for the SB2 and 3. They will work with the Touch.

Thanks for the tip Wayne.  I've got some very large expenses coming this month, so my audio budget is zero at the moment, but come June I think I'll have you modify one of the Jerome Industry PSUs for me.  Seems like a great price for a modified unit you say sounds fantastic.

Is there something else you offer (i.e. your modded elpac or parts express psus) that you think is better in the same price range?
