Praise for Bryston Service

My experience won't be a surprise to many of you, but I'd just like to publicly thank James Tanner and Mike Pickett at the Bryston head office in Kitchener, ON, Canada for excellent advice and service.

My 18-month old BCD-1 had started to skip on certain CDs and not play others at all. None of my other CD players had a problem with the same discs. An enquiry posted to this forum got a quick response from James Tanner, who opined that there was likely a problem with the disc drive. A telephone conversation with Mike Pickett at Bryston Service yielded a return authorization number and, 10 days later, I had the BCD-1 back with all the latest software updates and a new disc drive. Performing flawlessly now and with increased resolution, especially in the high frequencies.

Almost all the Bryston gear I've sent in for service over the years has been for mods rather than for repairs, but it's good to know that when there is a problem, Bryston will quickly rectify it.

Thanks again, James and Mike!

All in a days work. I've experienced some odd ticks from my BCD-1, sent it into Bryston who checked it over and installed the new software, came back, same intermittent problem.
I'm not totally convinced it's the fault of the BCD-1 or ghosts in the machine but James offered to drive down to TO and lend me his, I politely (embarrassingly) declined as I found this offer way beyond the call of duty figuring I've still a few years warranty to sort things out.
