Legacy Classics ?

I have an opportunity to sell my Legacy Classics for $1700 - which is $200 more than what i had paid for them. but i'm not sure if i should let go of them. i'm pretty happy with my Classics but you are all as (if not more) insane as i am, so you know we can never be fully satisfied.

my current equipment is Odyssey Tempest pre, Odyssey Stratos amp, Scott Nixon TubeDac+ with Sony 7000 as transport.

Here is the hard part, i listen to a very broad range of music: the extremes of metal with machine gun sounding double bass rolls, chamber music, sting quartets, jazz, blues, flamenco, etc. Which pretty much means that the speaker has to sound good with every kind of music.

My room is about 15'X18' and carpeted. Because of a bathroom door, the front of the speaker cannot extend more than 3' away from the wall.

given all of this, for around $1700 (not more than $1800), what new or used speakers could i get that would sound even more realistic than the Classics?

I have never heard the Legacy's,but as with everything technology improves along with a number of choices one can have today.

If you throughly enjoy your setup you can choose not to change it.If you sell them you can always audition speakers to find something better,

I always thought Maggies would be my last speakers, but I found a speaker designer that worked with me to find a better match for my room dimensions. The speakers I now use are not panels, but they give me a better match for my room without losing the transparency I had with my Maggies along with better Bass.

The speakers I use are no longer in production though.

Seems there are a great number of Cos. out there like VMPS with a further advancement of driver and XO technology today.

Good luck!

I'm not sure you will find a better speaker for your wide range of music given your price point.  If your happy, keep them!

thank you for your replies.

yeah, it would be difficult to part with the Classics, but when someone puts $1700 cash on your coffee table, it's very tempting to want to grab it and try to find even better speakers... but i'm not sure there are any that would sound considerably better in my setup.

At some point, when there are some used VMPS 30's in the market i'll try to look into them along with a good sub, but it will be a long while untill their price goes low enough for me to even consider them.

ps. "the front of the speaker cannot extend more than 3' away from the [BACK] wall."
