At this point, that is just a rendering. This speaker has not been built yet.

What is that?

suposedly a replacement to the strata mini, whos mid planars are "hard to get now"

Danny, what do u think the resulting speaker would perform like? (with bg's for tweeter/mid's)

Danny, any insight or information on this speaker would be appreciated. AV123 is certainly implying that it will be available (at least for orders) fairly soon (or else I think [hope] they would not have posted about the Rocket Volta).

Can you tell us if you have had any hand in its design? Any thoughts on sound or how it compares to other speakers in your offerings or ones you've designed?

Well, if this thing gets built as planned then it could be really spectacular. I am sure there will be further info released on it when it is actually done. I am not one to boost of something until it is a done deal and I have spent time listening to it.

One could say that my involvement will be a little more than just a hand.

Anyone know what the outlook of AV123 is?

That was my thought as well.  I've read a number of posts from people who have experienced some problems, but since I have no first hand experiences I'm not sure of their business situation.

If they're about to roll out some new speakers it doesn't sound all that bad.

I'm not too concerned about them.

Who is "them"?  The new speakers, VA321, or something else?

Plenty of companies in financial straits continue product development hoping that the new product release will help change the companies prospects.  Unfortunately, it usually doesn't work.

Hopefully av123 will be OK, but I think I'd need some indication from recent cusomers and vendors before I would send them a large chunk of change.

Just because Detroit is cranking out truckloads of new cars, does it mean that all the car manufacturers will be successful?  Umm ... no.  There will still be some failures.

BG themselves did a passive speaker similar to this already; maybe food for thought in their reviews:

Cool!  Have you heard the strata minis too?  I've still got a couple pairs of them off to the side while I'm currently playing with a pair of ET LFT-8Bs (well, original spec speakers with all the updates/upgrades).

Too bad really, all miscellaneous things notwithstanding, the aluminum low drivers on both these speakers (the new AV123s and the BGs) are deal breakers for me.

Your kidding right?  They owe a lot of people a LOT of money.  Some of the numbers I have seen/heard are mind boggling.  The owner is a con-man with a history of telling many many lies and talking about (and collecting/stealing money for) upcoming products that never come.  He is also facing several felony and misdemeanor charges, plus multiple civil suits.  I would not count on any new speakers rolling out until you actually see real production speakers getting delivered to customers. The safe bet is it is nothing but talk to trick people into feeling better about the company than they should.
