Auto rescan in squeezecenter

Where do I set up to rescan automatically in squeeze center?

I had this set to do every night when I first got my Duet and when I switched to Transporter I must have changed back to factory defaults and have to manually rescan.

Anybody know what I am talking about?

i always manually rescanned my library, but it appears you can set the rescan timer by going to:

settings > advanced > rescan music library

good luck.

This topic made me think of something I have noticed.  Two of my friends with SBs rescan after every cd import.  They say it will not show up otherwise.  I on the other had never rescan.  When I import a cd all I need to do is skip back to the main menu with the remote and the new import is there.  I guess it must be a setting.

Thanks got it.

I usually rescan after I load one cd and I want to listen to it right away...but if I am ripping several..I will rescan after the first one or two...then rescan and listen to those while I rip the rest. It is just convenient to have rescan set to go automatically.

BTW cd's won't show up for me til I rescan.

Ditto here.
I can rescan 100 CDs, and they'll NEVER show up unless I rescan.
Now....I can go to [music folder] and it'll be there instantly. But it won't EVER show up under [artists], [song], [genre] etc... unless I rescan.

But, I was perusing the third party add-ons the other day and noticed there is an add-on for auto rescanning.

Ah ha.  I generally search for music via the folder.  Thats why I never rescan.

I *think*, doing it your way renders some of the buttons "incomplete". Mainly the album, artists, genre, and playlist. That correct? Also, the specs about how many tunes, artists etc..would be inaccurate until a rescan.

Buttons?  I only use one, Folders.  Then my iPhone has everything in alphabetical order.  I have all my folders set up by artist so its exactly like sorting by artist but I never rescan.  I have been doing it this way for years.  No issues.
I do make playlists but I generally build them on the fly with the Squeemote app.

Hey that's cool. You lose a small bit of functionality, but it's all good.
