I am thinking now whats it going to sound like when i upgrade to a cd player ( playing cd through blu ray player at the moment) and my cables using very cheap speaker and phono s for now and the preamp !! .
I would like to get the 12 v triggers connected up but my pre amp (pioneer SCLX81 has like headphone sockets see photo (click on rear view of photo to enlarge)

Mark,

For triggering, buy a 1/8" stereo microphone cable and cut off one of the ends about 6". You will see three wires. Take cheap 18g speaker cable and connect one speaker cable wire to the white wire on the cutoff end and the other wire to the 2-wire twist of the red/ground on your microphone cable end. I have a Mcintosh processor with the same kind on trigger input. Now when I put the pro on it turn on my 7B SST2's and my 6B SST2 just like a chain reaction. Hope this helps.

Hi dukeofearl,

I installed my new 7BSST2's with the new transformer last June and share your opinion of them.  For what its worth on the CD/cable front I have the Esoteric X-05 and WireWorld Silver Eclipse 6 SC's and balanced IC's.  I love the combination with the 7's.  The cables made an immediate impact in enhancing what you are already experiencing with the 7's and the X-05 predictably plays a bigger role in what you hear off your CD/SACD's than the 7's will.  However if budget and or lack of interest in SACD is in play the Bryston BCD-1 is a no brainer choice.  I spoke with David Salz the president of WireWorld before the purchase and he advised me that Bryston uses WireWorld cables extensively in their show demos.  I bought the X-05 and cables at the same time from a dealer who gave me an outstanding deal for the combo purchase.  If your're interested PM me for the details.

I don 't use the 12 V triggers as I have little patience for adding to the quagmire of cables behind my cabinet and actually enjoy the tactile interface with my gear each time I fire up.

Regards,

Bill

Sorry, I just discovered that you are in the UK so my dealer in the US won't be of any help.

I would have thought that Bryston would have used their own cables. Why use another mfg. when Bryston sells their own brand? Perhaps James will explain.

Hi Gerald.

We usually share rooms with other companies at shows so the cables used will vary from show to show.

Mhhh my quest for speaker cables has come to an end. I ordered them from Bryston an hour ago. If they're good enough for professional studio installation, they're surely good enough for my family room.... My agony is now over.

Speaking of Bryston cables.... Does Bryston still make their balance units from VanDamme wire. If so which one. I see that VanDamme has various grades

Hi,

Yes we use one of the VanDamme very low noise microphone shielded cables for our XLR Balanced cables and install our own connectors.

Thanks James. I will order a set . Is shorter the better in this case or makes no difference? I'm talking about 3 feet!  :singing:

With balanced cables length is not a concern.

I started using  balanced connects between my CD-1 and the BP25. Everything improved over the very good Nordost Redawn RCA's. What more if I balance wire to the power amp?.....:.can hardly wait! :hyper:
