PrimaLuna vs Snappers?

If you guys had a choice between the PrimaLuna Dialog 7 mono blocks amp and the Manley Labs Snappers, which would you take. Considering your speakers were 87db?  Please tell me why you would make your choice.

Thanks very much please respond

Wow.....that's a tough one.   I have owned both names, but not those models.   I'm sure the presentations will be quite different.   Somewhat knowing their respective "house sounds"  I'm gonna guess that the PL will be a bit plusher, warmer, fuller, wetter and more musical (I know, hard to get a handle on that!), while the Snappers will be a bit faster, leaner, and lean more towards the linear and accurate side of things.  My guess is the PL will appeal more to the emotional listener, the Manley to the cerebral listener.

Based on what I know of them, I would go for the PL myself....assuming they can both drive your speakers equally well.  But that is my own personal preference in how I like to voice things, and means nothing to you.

As always it will come down to personal preference, synergy with associated gear, and how you wanna balance your system.  What are the speakers?

If it helps, I had the Dialogue 2 integrated, which should bear more than a passing sonic similarity to the Dialogue 7 monos.....just less power.

Thanks as always with your comment great insight!

Your comments on how you see the sound from each amp is exactly what I have picked up on reviews. Each of these amp have excellent reviews and have a large following. The pricing is close, with the New Primaluna some more expensive.

My speakers are The Salk HT2-TL

OK....I don't know about that particular Salk model, but I think the consensus on Salk is that they need some juice.  I think most guys go with SS.   Probably best to ask the same question over in the Salk board.  Lots of experience over there.

My guess is that between those two amps, that maybe the Snapper will give more drive and grunt?  I could be dead wrong here, especially since the PL is KT88 -- typically a more robust sounding tube than the Snapper's EL-34.

I can tell you this.....
A buddy of mine was driving his Sunny H2W10 speakers with a pair of Rogue M150 monos...by all accounts, a really slammin' amp with tons of drive and grunt.  He was unhappy with the SS'ish presentation in mids and highs that he was getting, so he switched over to PrimaLuna Prologue 7 monos.   He halved his output power, and he tells me his sound is better in every regard (even the bass!).   As an added bonus he put $800 in his pocket on the amp change (bought / sold both used).

In this case, I would have guessed a give up in speed and bass slam and dynamics, but he tells me it's not the case.  So instincts are not always bourne out in reality.

PS:   You probably already know this, but the Dialog 7 monos are better than the Prolog 7 with better transformers etc, so they s/b even more dynamic.

A 87dB speaker is suited for a muscular solidstate amp as Bryston 4B.  A 50W or so tube amp like these will suffer and the tubes will no last a eternity.   Recommended change the speaker to a KLIPSCH RF83(100dB/W/metre) this is a very praised speaker.
Just my opinion.
